Ever since the emergence, and subsequent rise in popularity, of iOS and Android powered handsets, Nokia have seen their reputation plummet.
While at one time Nokia handsets were the mobile phones to be seen with, in recent years they’ve struggled to keep up with the innovations offered by iOS and Android. In spite of this, Nokia have retained a hardcore group of fans who are always keen to see what the Finnish manufacturer comes out with next. This is due, in part, to Nokia’s commitment to release smartphones aimed at users who don’t want to fork out £500 plus for an iOS or Android handset. The C5-03 is their latest entry level offering.
The C5-03 is a larger handset that Nokia users may be used to, but still weighs considerably less than the majority of touchscreen smartphones (93g). The sturdy plastic case comes in stylish grey, blue or green, which is sure to please the fashion-conscious mobile phone owner. The case also houses an impressive 5 megapixel camera; an improvement on that of its predecessor. There’s also a Micro SD memory card slot for an extra 16GB or storage and, most notably, an accelerometer, allowing for the playing of modern mobile phone games like Doodle Jump.
The C5-03 comes preloaded with a variety of social networking apps, including Facebook, Twitter, My Space and Friendster. One feature that sets it apart from other similarly-priced smartphones is the inclusion of Ovi Maps. This excellent app uses GPS to provide turn by turn voice navigation whether you are driving or walking. Its inbuilt accelerometer also means a digital compass can be used to further aid users’ journeys.
The Nokia C5-03 is a solid and reliable phone, and is a great choice for someone looking to make their first step into the smartphone world. If you want some more information on this or any other Nokia phone visit http://www.phones4u.co.uk/.
At this blog we like to see the past and try to predict the future, or simply analyse the present, the past being where the Nokia E71 belongs, and the future where the Nokia E6-00 will reign.
If we look at the design, we see that the Finnish manufacturer has become less serious in its approach, so that the handset can dual as a business phone and an entertainment one, so that the user can carry it to anywhere.

What certainly hasn’t changed is the comfort brought by the full QWERTY keyboard on the actual front of the handset – you don’t need to twist, open or unfold any part of the device in order to take advantage of the full keyboard.
Of course, the Nokia E6-00 is hardly the top of the cream when it comes to Nokia’s line-up. To that belongs the Nokia N8, you can visit it or purchase it from retailer www.dialaphone.co.uk.
The Nokia E6-00 itself bets on the touchscreen plus keyboard combo, which I believe is great, adds Microsoft apps needed for business, social networking access for one’s daily life, and my favourite – free GPS navigation with Ovi Maps.

The E71x was released some months ago as an exclusive version of the classic E71 by AT&T. The E71x has some improvements over the old E71: Feature Pack 2 was added together with a slightly improved keyboard made out of a more rubbery material than in the E71. The E71x is an interesting device, and here at the E71 and E71x blog we are bringing you the review, only this time it was written by someone who doesn’t have previous experiences with S60, in fact, not even smartphones.

Sometimes when I browse new themes for my Nokia devices, specially the E71; it can happen two things. Either I don’t find what I was looking for and just install the most decent one, or I find exactly, and sometimes even more, than what I was looking for. Well, today I found one of those themes that are more than I could ask for.
The theme comes from the genius themer, Tehkseven who keeps impressing and surprising the S60 fans with his amazing S60 themes. And with his latest theme he has done it again, the name of the theme is aviator. This cool looking theme is inspired in planes as it name reveals. The theme has l0ts of cool features such as transparencies and of course 100SVG icons in three different styles that the user can choose from. Seven which is Tehsevens icon set with over 100 icons, then Ovi and the regular icons that already come with tthe Nokia E71. The theme is just amazing, the homescreen is even more amazing, and good news is that is totally free. To download the new Aviator theme just head to Tehks site, be careful to download the theme for Eseries devices: Aviator
The Nokia E71 is an amazing device to use with shortcuts, it has plenty of buttons in its face allowing the user to launch any app really fast. In fact, there is an unknown feature on the E71 where you can program the 4 keys around the dpad to open something in long press. But there is an application that definitively masters shortcuts, it is called ”Cute Keys” and it is totally amazing! And free!
For example, imagine if you could write an SMS to Samantha by just pressing @ and S. By just pressing this two buttons the E71 will open a new SMS that you can write to Samantha! Or open a specific file like song, pic or video by just pressing two predefined keys, or an app, or call a specific contact or even open a specific website! This app is just amazing, it changes the way you use your device becuase everything is done faster than ever, plus, the E71 is a great device to do this because of the quantity of buttons and the fact that they are available without flipping or opening anything. To download Cute Keys just head here: cutekeys_s60_3_v_1_1, tell us what you think and if this app improved your E71 experience!

Some days ago I had to set up again my Nokia E71, while doing this I discovered a whole new bunch of apps that either I didn’t know or I didn’t had the time to install. And among the apps that I installed on my Nokia E71 is Nokia Point and Find, a really cool app that is ttotally awesome, it does magic!
Well, of course is not a magical app, but it is pretty unbelievable and amazing. This app is Point and Find, a Nokia operated service that is available worldwide. Nokia Point and Find is a very advanced app, is the kind of app that lets everyone speechless but Nokia doesn’t get marketing out of it, a thing Apple does and knows how to do very well.
You could always check out software for newer models, such as Nokia E73 themes.
Basically point and find, finds information about things you point to with your E71s camera. For example, a movie poster; just point with the E71 to the movie poster and your E71 will identify the movie and the will sshow you the trailer and movie times near you. But no only that, when shopping you can just point your E71 to the barcode of a product and your E71 will recognize it and show you the lowest price online; a pretty amazing feature. But the coolest one is with sights, lets say you are in the Eifflel Tower in Paris, just point at it and your E71 will tell you everything about it; it works with most historical structures. With point and shoot you can find many things, and you can get it for free here: Nokia Point and Find
There are some amazing apps for the E71 and E71x coming lately, the updated google maps and google search improved greatly over the previous versions. But the latest and coolest app at the moment is Shazam; a very useful app that you can get absolutely free! And what is Shazam? Well, if you ever found yourself loving a song frequently played on the radio or anywhere else, but don’t know the name, you have found the correct app. With Shazam you can just place your E71 near the speaker playing the unknown song and Shazam will tell you everything about it: name, artist, album and more detailed info from the song. If the Nokia Music store is available in your country, you can even buy the song directly from your app.
Shazam is really useful since finding the name of an unknown song is really difficult. And I have to say that the app is totally amazing, it recognized even really unknown songs that I thought it would never recognize! The Shazam app is free at the moment, but there are rumors about a future charge for this great app. Anyway, you can download this app at the Ovi Store: Download Shazam.
