If you ever played with an iPhone you probably also know about the AppStore, it lets thee users easily get free and pay applications on the iPhone without the need of a computer. The good news is that if you were wanting that for your Nokia E71, it is now available! Nokia released the Ovi Store, the Ovi Store is an awesome portal for both your computer and your phone where you can download free and pay applications. The Ovi Store is fully compatible with the E71, Nokia also promised that in the near future, S60 devices coming from ATT would come with the Ovi Store built-in and with operator billing service.
The Ovi Store is great, is the thing that Nokia needed to compete with the iPhone and Apple, I played around with the Ovi Store for a while and I still don’t know if I like it or not. You can try Ovi Store in your Nokia E71 in two ways. You can go to : Store.Ovi.Com, on your E71 and computer, or you can download the Ovi Store Appliccation to your device. Just search it in the Download! app of your E71, the location changes between operators, but search it in the Apps first because it is more likely to be there. Our last post talked about how previous versions of Skyfire don’t work on the new Nokia E71x, and there was an old version that did work but is kind of bad because is not outdated. The good news is that now the new version of Skyfire, Skyfire v1.0, is officially compatible with the Nokia E71x, meaning you just can install and are ready to go!
Skyfire is a free mobile web browser that can load ANY web site, it supports scripts and technologies the native browser of the Nokia E71x does not. For example, if you ever tried to watch a video at lets say Hulu, the E71x native browser will show you that is not supported, but with Skyfire you will be able to watch that video! Skyfire supports all the scripts a full computer does, like SilverLight, RealMedia, AJAX, Flash 10 and much more. Skyfire is definitively the best application for the Nokia E71 and Nokia E71x. If you were a Skyfire user and then tried to install it on your Nokia E71x, you will find it does not work at all. But the guys from Nokia Experts found out that the old version of Skyfire does work on the E71x, however, there are some minor issues with this version. For example, the old version does not have the social media integration, and in some scenarios, the right softkey accesses ”Menu” even though ”Menu” lays on the left side of the screen.
If you don’t know what Skyfire is, you are missing a lot! Skyfire is a free web browser for Nokia devices, the great thing about this browser is that it can show every all content, including flash, Ajax, java and more, meaning that you can now finally have all the web in your pocket. To download Skyfire for the E71x go to this site: Skyfire 0.85 and scroll to the lower part of it. Remember not to update Skyfire, it will not work.
