Main difference of these email clients is its nature. If you are using corporate emails use Mail for Exchange otherwise Nokia Messaging.
Having the application installed to your phone, you do not have to be in front of a PC or a laptop to send an email. Just in a palm of your hand you can do it with ease. Having a full QWERTY keyboard, no hassle in typing emails accurately and speedy.

Mail for Exchange, Nokia Messaging have several ways to download. Using a computer or even using the device it self. The applications can be accessed from Ovi Store either from the phone or in the web.

The E71x has some improvements over the old E71: Feature Pack 2 was added together with a slightly improved keyboard made out of a more rubbery material than in the E71. The E71x is an interesting device, and here at the E71 and E71x blog we are bringing you the review, only this time it was written by someone who doesn’t have previous experiences with S60, in fact, not even smartphones.

But before the reading the review by the first-time-user, I have some things to say. First: I opened the device and turned it ON for the first time. What I saw was just horrible, AT&T did everything on their power to customize the E71x as much as they could; the result is a hideous interface together with useless AT&T apps, all the ”Nokia beauty” was removed, not to mention that it looks pretty confusing and generally frustrating. But luckly for the noob reviewer, I know a thing or two about Nokia phones; I installed a very good looking theme by tehkseven and organized the menus more logically and user friendly, if I wouldn’t have done that, the noob reviewer would have been totally lost in a chaotic and very useless interface, courtesy of AT&T.

Unlike the E71x, the latest device in this series is exclusive to T-Mobile, as you can read in the Nokia E73 Blog.

This issue is a big concern over the E71x for first time users, the AT&T customization really brakes the phone. But that is all I can say about the E71x as the testing was made by my friend, Elias. Here are his thoughts:

To start off I would just like to say that I am not a Nokia fan boy and I don’t know much about phones but, compared to other phones I’ve had the E71x is by far among the best. It has lots of small features that make it very customizable. With all that said this phone is still not perfect, this phone definitely has flaws and one of them is big.

The great thing about this phone is the depth that any Nokia fan will be able to enjoy. There are literally thousands if not hundreds of thousands of applications that you can used to customize and personalize the phone to perfectly fit your preferences. For the rest of us who only use the internet, texting and calling features in the phone this is still a great phone. While the depth and customization is there you don’t have to take advantage of it, you can just use the regular features without the having to get too in-depth or to learn how to work the more advanced features that the phone has. One of the in-depth features is a listen feature for text messages. With just the knowledge that this feature exist, you should be able estimate the amount of applications and features that have been created to make the phone as easy to use as possible. Esthetically this phone is very beautiful; it has a steel frame which gives you a feeling of actually holding something that isn’t going to fall apart in 5 minutes while also being one of the thinnest smart phones available.

The phone wasn’t all good though, the flaws, while few, make a big impact in my opinion about the phone. The biggest flaw this phone has is the keyboard. When I got the phone I immediately noticed that the keys were really close together and that they are very small. These two things combined made it extremely hard to type a text message quickly. I would accidently type the wrong letter or two letters at the same time. The only time that I had no problem with the keys was when I was standing perfectly still and even then I had to use the very tip of my fingers in order to not mess up. If I walked around while typing I started to make mistakes and for those reading this that text while driving you should know that it will be impossible to do so without making lots of mistakes. You should also stop doing that since it is dangerous for you and others (my mandated public service announcement of the day). Some people have told me that you grow to get use to the small keyboard and that after a couple of days they no longer had a problem. I’m the exception to this rule, I had it for about 2 weeks and I still had problems writing a message without making mistakes the last day I had it. This phone really didn’t have any other large flaws, the other things I call “flaws” are just things that I’m not used to. Any person that has had any of the newer Nokia phones should be used to the things I call “flaws” already.

This is a great phone despite of its flaw and if you’re not a big on-the-go texter you should completely disregard everything I’ve said and buy it. It’s a great smart phone if its primary user is a business person. After rebate this phone cost only $99 with a 2 year contract. If you’re a business person whose main mode of communication is calling other people and you have AT&T you should go right now and get this phone, but if you’re not all these things this phone is still extremely good. If your main form of communication is texting, however, you should consider finding a more texting friendly phone

I recently discovered that there is a group on Flickr that uploads pictures taken with the Nokia E71 only, so you can go ahead and see pics taken with the E71, and upload pictures taken with your E71. Take a look here: E71 Pool

Today one of the most popular services is Facebook, with an Alexa Ranking of #5 this service is widely used by almost everyone. And as smartphones with the ability to connect anywhere to the internet also became very popular among users, then Facebook saw the opportunity and released many Facebook Applications for smartphones. But what no one thought about until now was an actual Facebook Phone. The Facebook Phone INQ1 made by the company INQ was released by the carrier ”3” and is available from right now. But is it worth it? Is the Nokia E71 better or the INQ1 Facebook Phone better?

Both the INQ1 and the E71 are similar in terms of specifications, lets start by the multimedia. Both phones manage music pretty average, for example the standard 3.5mm Audio Jack is mission on both so users will have to buy an adaptor. The storage is unless the same, internal memory but the MicroSD slot lets the user load some music. One advantage that the INQ1 has over the E71 is that comes with a full featured Last.Fm client installed and works way better than the 3rd party Last.Fm clients that can be installed on the E71. In the video department the E71 is definitevely the winner because has a smoother video playback than the INQ1. Then we have the camera, both the INQ1 and E71 have a 3.2 Megapixel camera, the difference lays in that the E71 has Auto-Focus instead of the Fixed-Focus of the INQ1. Then the E71 wins again by adding a Flash which is missing on the INQ1.

The E71 has another advantage over the INQ1, it is the QWERTY keyboard alhtough is not a problem for everyone since there are people who prefer the T9 keyboard from the INQ1 Facebook Phone. In what screenn is related both phones have similar displays, the E71 featuring a 2.35” display and the INQ1 a 2.2” display with the same resolution as the E71. Then the browser of the INQ1 is based on the WebKit as the E71s browser so they are pretty similar alhtough the INQ1 does not support Flash Lite 3.

In conclusion both devices are pretty similar, but they are not aimed at the same public. The INQ1 phone is obviously aimed at people who love online social communities, this means that if you don’t use online social communities the INQ1 Facebook Phone will be almost usless. On the other hand the E71 is aimed at people who need an e-mail device while on the go. But differently from the INQ1 phone the E71 has not only one use and more people can use it for different tasks, not only what it is aimed for like in the INQ1 phone.

In this last chapter of the E71 comparison we will have a device that makes an interesting comparison with the E71, the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic. Both devices are made by the same manufacturer, and both devices run more unless the same S60 OS although the 5800 runs a touch UI instead of the button interface of the E71. The Nokia 5800 XpressMusic is aimed at people who love music, and the E71 is a phone aimed at people who are heavy texters.

To start we will compare the multimedia abilities of both phones. In the camera department we have the same 3.2 Megapixel count, as Auto-Focus. The difference is that the Nokia 5800 has Carl-Zeiss Optics and dual Flash instead of the Nokia E71 single Flash. So here we can easily see that the Nokia 5800 is a way better shooter. Then we have a massive difference on the screen size, the E71 has a 2.35” screen but the Nokia 5800 has a giant 3.2 inch screen with a much better resolution. As the 5800 is an XpressMusic phone the music experience is much better than in the E71, for example the 5800 comes bundled with an 8GB card and has a Standard 3.5mm Audio Jack with TV-Out Option. The E71 comes bundled with a 2GB card in Europe and unfortunately for USA it does not even come with a 64MB card. The 2.5mm Audio Jack on the E71 also makes the music experience frustrating.

But an area in which the Nokia E71 clearly wins is in the Built-Quality. The Nokia 5800 is made entirely out of plastic and the construction of the phone is not solid. On the other hand the E71 is made mostly out of metal and the adjustment of the phone is rock solid.

In conclusion both phones are good in their individual areas, the E71′s QWERTY keyboard can’t be replaced by the Nokia 5800 virtual keyboard if you are a heavy texter. But the Music experience of the Nokia 5800 can’t be compared to the frustrating experience the E71 offers.

Continuing the comparison of the E71 with other phones, we have now the Samsung Armani Night Effect. This two phones are great rivals and both have interesting unique features. In particular the Samsung Armani Night Effect is a phone that resembles the Armani lifestyle on a feature phone. The Armani Night Effect was designed for people who like the night life and want to have an accessory to show elegance and exclusivity with a phone from a famous designer. The Night Effect has a particular feature that is exclusive for this phone, it has lights surrounding the body to produce the Night Effect, a spectacular glow with different colors previously configured by the user as an extension of his personality. On the other hand we have the Nokia E71 which was designed with flexibility and smart simplicity in mind, but the E71 is not only a productive phone. It can be also a chic phone that shows elegance and exclusivity. To start the E71 has an all metal body with elegant patterns on the back of the device, it also has other features as the breathing light surrounding the D-Pad that although is not as spectacular as the Night Effect from the Samsung Armani, it does pretty well its job by making the device look sophisticated.

We will explore now the abilities of both phones. As one would think the Samsung Armani is only a phone designed to look good, but contrary to that generality of fancy phones, the Samsung Armani is also a feature phone. To start the Armani Phone takes over the E71 with its Standard 3.5mm Audio Jack, the E71 has a 2.5mm Jack and the user has to buy separately an adapter to the Standard Jack. The Armani Phone also has dedicated music keys and MicroSD, therefore the music experience is way better than in the E71. Then the E71 has a 2.35 inch screen, the Samsung Armani has a smaller screen with 2.2 inches but with OLED technology, meaning that images and colors will look brighter and better than in the E71 screen. In the camera department they are really close but the E71 wins, both have 3.2 Megapixel with Auto-Focus, but ironically the NIGHT effect lacks Flash, so that means that people who will buy this phone who generally like night life will not be able to take pictures in at night! Anyway the E71 wins because of the LED Flash.

In conclusion both phones are really interesting, but although they have similar specifications thhey are aimed at totally different segments of the market. The decition goes accordiingly to the user needs.
