Same problem here. My phone came with this version and Facebook and Youtube pre-installed. However, I can not see the shortcuts to access the applications, even though the Applications Manager says they are installed.

Has anyone been able to get Mail for Exchange to work properly on an E71x? It worked perfectly for months, now all of a sudden, it stopped sync'ing. If I try and open the program, I just get a blank screen, then eventually it goes back to the main menu on the phone. If I uninstall, then reinstall the program, I can get it to sync until I turn my phone off, then I'm back to where I was before.

Hi,

Yesterday I purchased E-71 and I found that when we scroll for photos, the screen is flickering. And also there a very very very tiny point at the lower center of the screen which is visible when you see it in darkness under light. Now I am very confused what is wrong. And I took it as a gift for someone. Now should I ask for new piece or should I give it to Service Center. Personally I feel the shopkeeper should change the piece as it is only after I purchased and came home , found this problem. So could someone please guide me what should I do, I am very confused and need urgent help in making my mind or to find which is the right solution to this problem?

On the E71x when surfing the web using Media Net, what is the command to create a zoom box? I did it once & don't know how I did & now I need to know how to do this.
I'm sure it's a key combo but can't figure out which.

Hello

I have recently bought an E71 in Oman, where I work and live, with an Arabic/English keyboard.
There is so much squashed on each key (and the English bit was so small) that I have decided to change to an English only keybaord.
I have done this at a cost of 15GBP whilst visiting Dubai.
It works fine except that some of the keys do not now create on screen what is pressed on the keyboard.
For example if i press the '?' or the 'Full stop' is not where it should be.

In other words the phone still thinks that i have an Arabic / English keyboard and not an English only keyboard.
Its like an American and UK 'PC' keyboard. The @ is located in different places for example.

I believe that I need to change a setting or add some software.
Can any one advise (simply) what I need to do to correct this issue if possible.
links to software, instructions etc.

thanks

How do I go into settings to set these shortcut keys?

SEVEN push mail system was not working properly on my E71 so I uninstalled and reinstalled the program. It is now functioning fine and my gmail account is working but I have 4 Gmail mailboxes, one that is operational and three duplicates that are empty, inactive and that I can't see how to delete. If I go to SEVEN program menu then I can only see one account. If I go to Messaging there are 4 mailboxes.

I have tried Messaging>Settings>Email then highlighting the mailbox but i only get the options Edit,Help or Exit so I can't delete.

I have also uninstalled SEVEN and restored factory settings but the mailboxes remain, only now they have question marks next to them rather than the gmail logo. Now when I go to Messaging>Settings>Email they don't show up at all. How on earth am I supposed to remove them?

This is driving me crazy, If anyone can help I would GREATLY appreciate it.

I have used my e71 always in basic mode (which doesn't have the row of things on the home screen - msg, map, web, etc).

And I have changed all my shortcuts to represent an application, including the main left and right buttons. While I have made the middle button be my menu button. So now after switching to business mode, I don't have a menu button because this middle button is used for selecting things in this mode. How do I get menu?

The shortcut notification image at the bottom of the screen for my e71 has disappeared and each time I get a new message it doesn't show up anymore. I have to manually go to the messages at the top of the screen and then go to inbox to see the new message when before I could just click the little shortcut that popped up at the bottom of the home screen which would lead me straight to the new image.

Here is what I'm talking about:

That has disappeared.

I've tried restoring the factory settings on my phone and it didn't set it back to the way it used to be. I'm lost on what to do in order to get it back.

Hi,
I'm a new user of E71 and have 3 questions:
1. I'm using a silicone cover and when I want to power off the device
I've to take of the silicone and power off from the red button. Is there
any other way to power of the device?
2. I want to secure the access to my messages (SMS's). Is there a way
or a application for that?
3. How can I install applications on the E71? every application got a error
that something is wrong with the certification?...what that means?

Thanks

Hi, All,

Just wondering if anyone could tell me how much data VoIP calls use over a 3G network?

I specifically got my E71 from Rogers in Toronto before they made you get a data plan and so I'm just on a regular phone plan. I'm thinking of paying $30/month for a 1GB data plan if it allows me to get significantly more minutes through a VoIP service like Skype or Fring. Appreciate all answers. Cheeeeeeers.

Google maps pulls data from the google servers, so it needs either a wifi connection or a data plan.

You can use the built in Nokia maps application and download a local copy of the maps, and use it without a data plan (the local copy would be downloaded from your PC and transfered to the phone)

hi guys,

I want to know if mapping softwares like yahoomaps or googlemaps will work on E71 without a data plan. I don't need the GPS function but having just the maps would be great. Any ideas... thanks

i don't get a lot of time to sit down and study (2 careers, wife, kid) so i'd use the flashcards here and there whenever i got 5 min. to review materials like when i've got a break at work, on the subway, etc. you know...during those times when i don't my books with me.

thanks for your help though...i noticed there was a flashcard app a few years ago but the link is no longer available.

I tried an ATT E71X for a week, then switched to an unlocked E71, so I have a little experience with both
I see reference to being able to take advantage of 3G system speeds with the E71x. Not with the E71 NAM???
I didn't see any difference in speed between the two phones using speedtest
Having looked at AT&T pricing, I see the $15 difference. However, I'm not sure what each plan variant gives you exactly "what" with the E71x and E71, respectively. Can you clarify?
ATT insists that smartphones use the $30 data plan while all other phones can use the $15 plan. No other difference that I can see. When I returned the E71X, I reset my account to use a Samsung A707, signed up for the $15 plan, and moved the SIM to the E71. Everything is working fine so far (2 months)
And, subsequently, how does Wifi affect the choice of one or the other of these plans?
Doesn't really change anything, I use WIFI to web browse and download because it's faster than 3G, but the difference isn't huge (after all, most pages and downloads are pretty small)
For email from my ISP POP3 account (or corporate exchange, but more importantly, the former) how do the E71x and E71 NAM with the respective AT&T data plans work? Claification of this will probably also clarify data plan selection AND influence the financial decision about which phone to purchase.
Both work pretty much the same. In either case, you need some software to fetch the mail - ATT provides XPressMail, or for the unlocked you can download from System SEVEN. Turns out that XPressMail is based on the System SEVEN code, so they pretty much work the same way.

I actually prefer Nokia Messaging, as it it looks much better and works well (email.nokia.com) - it works on both phones
Finally, since I have had CDMA phones for a long time, how does the actual discussion with AT&T go to obtain the requisite SIM card and month to month phone pla, if you have the unlocked Nokia E71 NAM, to get the optimum use of the phone with their network capabilities?
Just sign up and get a cheap (free) phone, add the $15 data plan, and then move the SIM to the E71
