   This may sound stupid, but how do I close my open applications?

   when you're in the app, "Options"...the last option is "Exit"...and voila!

   Yah Junkeeroo, you are right,
   When you are trying to close an application on your Nokia e71 or any other cell phone you can simply click the red button or go to options and the "Exit" is always the last option, so prefer to push up than down...if you know what I mean.

   Found it!!! press and hold the menu button and the "open apps" window will come up. once there choose the app you wish to close and press the backspace button, you will be asked to comfirm, press yes and app is closed

   Oh yeah, junkeroo, when you do it the way you explained you simply end the app. but it continues to run in the background draining your batt. works only with browser or third party apps.

   Hi Merc50323,

   That's the "trick" on the Nokia e71, I didn't know that. For example, if you do that on the E51 it won't work, it will read the messages in this case.

   And what junkeroo said is right, if you exit the application, in the "exit" option it will close the app. When you click on the red button it will run in background.
